Sandra Voss, the president and founder of the South West
Educational Foundation, helped the men get started with the garden.
"The garden is a growing enterprise," she said. "It's not only food we
can eat, prepare, we can give away, but also food we can sell in our
own farmer's market."
Voss said the garden is not only teaching the men to take control of
their lives - it's also helping them to take care of themselves.
"First of all, financial, second of all, more healthy because you know
what's in your garden," Jones said. "Our garden has no
preservatives, no chemicals, no pesticides. It's strictly organic
material."
In a few months, the organization plans to work with a nearby
school to teach them how to grown their own garden.
The group also plans to sell their vegetables at a farmer's market on
Saturdays in the future.
