THE ORGANISATION
The seeds of business opportunity in the face of economic
change have given me personal insight into the value a
community has on it’s citizenry – will directly impact the
urban economics of their lifestyle. For me – real estate
values are a result of more than just how a home is built.
Business is more than turning a profit.
So my career is an extension of my beliefs. And my
charity is a conservatory of my drive to give to my
community more than I could ever receive.
An avid outdoors person, I have gained the confidence to
do many things because of valuable opportunities afforded
me by my Iowa upbringing. Since learning by my father's
side during the Iowa Farm Crisis in the 80's: his goal and
dream relized was the identification of companies and
contact points which helped decision makers of WalMart,
McKay Envelope, City Carton Recycling, Pioneer Seed
choose to grow their capabilities in my home town -- Mt.
Pleasant Iowa. Now I continue with developing community
connections that build people with and through the
business citizenry. I believe that growing regional
economies and capabilities within our kids -- mutually
helps our urban economics.
Which has lead to the formation of The South West
Educational Foundation. We have had 3 very successful
events.
1. Minnesota Twins Spring Training Youth Challenge
2. International Walk To School -- Palmetto
3. Palmetto Wrestling Youth Challenge
Board member, William R. Voss, PhD : Director of
Business for Kern High School District, California's
largest 9-12 high school district with more than 35,000
students and 3,500 employees has been an valuable father
figure and advisor. The Foundation was conceived
initially as part of a private public cooperative effort to
help fund equipment for kids in SW Florida County's to
participate in sports, an innovative program targeting the
needs of the so-called “average” student.
I look to expand my advisory panel to assist:
1. The SW Florida community
2. Thousands of young people involved in relevant
sports/sciences programs
3. More funds for
a.transportation,
b.nutrition,
c.education and
d.resources to enhance educational systems
4. A feeder resource to already running non profit
programs which support youth activities.
We look for each fund raising cooperative with our
partners to minister funds in the county where the
activity takes place.
During my college years(1980 - 1984 School of Business
Grad) at Iowa State University I served the Ames Tenant
Landlord Association Board,Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity
Board,Iowa State University / American Red Cross
Winter Blood Drive Co-Chair, and Panhellenic Board.
Before moving to Florida, I helped grow several programs
in Cincinnati and Kentucky resulting in 1993 - 2000
Board Member Lexington Women's Crisis Center, 2004
Commercial Preservation Award Newport, KY, 2005 Board
Member Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors, and
2005 Education Board Member Darlene Bishop Home for
Life, Monroe Ohio.
Without providing safe and nurturing environments for
our youth I believe we would be robbing our schools,
business’ and government of healthy and productive
members.Which has lead to the formation of The South West Educational Foundation. |
