PLAMETTO H.S. WRESTLING TEAM 2007

 
 
 

Coach Wilkes is the head wrestling coach for Palmetto High School. He has years of helping youth and experienced the benefit of the great discipline this sport has brought to his own life. Having
suffered Rheumatic Fever as a child, his heart condition only allowed him to participate in a sport like wrestling. Now as a successful coach, he is giving back in a way that helped him and his development.

The team is starting its fourth year and has had some success in competition and raising funds. This summer the team completed it's first Youth Camp engaging 40 area elementary kids in the health, nutrition and wellness this fine sports brings along with a lot of wrestling fun.


  

 

 

Like with most high school sports now, they are always lacking the funds to allow their team the uniforms and equipment that it needs to feel first class.

To break even for the season last year The Palmetto Wrestling team has raised $4000 a year. Covering expenditures like;
1. Uniforms,
2. Practice gear,
3. Mat cleaning supplies,
4. Referees,
5. Transportation, and
6. Hotel costs.

With the success of helping more young people and more on the way we‚re looking to expand our support with funds that go directly to these young boys and men.
